Continuing Professional Education (CPE) 2027

In accordance with Public Act 1 of 2023 requiring in-service training for all licensed police officers, the Oakland Police Academy is offering training in 2027 centering on Internal Investigations, Narcotics & Dangerous Drugs, Courtroom Testimony for the sworn police officer, and Human Trafficking. The training is taught by instructors highly qualified in their respective field

Participants can attend all three days of training for a total cost of $450, or they can attend individual blocks of instruction of their choice.  Prices are listed next to each block below.

 

Day 1

  • Administrative and Background Investigations – 8 hours (8:00 am – 5:00 pm), Mandated Training
    • Presented by Det/Lt Chester Bartle, Waterford Township Police Dept – retired  
      SA Michael Swiercz, Michigan Attorney General’s Office 
      Sgt Brent Murray, Milford Police Dept – retired 
    • This block ONLY COST:  $185.00

Day 2

  • Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs – 8 hours (8:00 am – 5:00 pm), Mandated Training
    •  
      Presented by Det/Sgt Dan Main, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office
    •  
      This block ONLY COST: $110.00
       

Day 3

  • Courtroom Testimony for Officers – 4 hours (8:00 am – Noon), Agency Elected Training
    • Presented by: Justin Chmielewski, Oakland County Juvenile Court Referee, Asst. Prosecuting Attorney, Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office – retired 
      Randy Secontine, Asst. Prosecuting Attorney, Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office – retired 
    • This block ONLY COST: $110.00
  • Human Trafficking – 4 hours (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm), Agency Elected Training
    • Presented by Det/Lt Ed Price, Michigan State Police – retired 
    • This block ONLY COST: $110.00

NOTE: This training meets the mandatory 24-hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) as designated by MCOLES that must be completed by December 31, 2027.
