Instructor:

Kristina Ivanovic - Forensic Scientist with the Michigan State Police assigned to the DNA Unit at the Northville Laboratory. Earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and Criminal Justice Studies from University of Michigan-Dearborn.

She began her career with the Michigan State Police in 2019 as an Evidence Technician after previously serving as an intern at the Northville Laboratory. In 2021, she was promoted to Forensic Scientist within the DNA Unit, where she continues to specialize in forensic DNA analysis. Currently, she serves as the DNA Training Officer for the Northville Laboratory, where she is responsible for training and developing new technicians and forensic scientists within the unit.

In addition to her responsibilities at the laboratory, she has also been an active member of the Crime Scene Response Team for more than six years, and served as a Crime Scene Coach, mentoring and guiding new team members through crime scene training and scene response procedures.

Course Description:

This one-day course covers topics in forensic biology including: proper collection/packaging of biological evidence, evidence submission guidelines, information regarding the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) database, and forensic biology laboratory techniques.
