Course Description:

Note: Previous attendance in Level 1 & 2 Practical Kinesic Interview & Interrogation® is required. No Exceptions.

The human population is wonderfully diverse and complicated and a one size fits all interview approach does not exist.  To be effective in the interview environment, investigators must be prepared to deal with emotionally, and mentally dysfunctional people, not to mention the possible presence of major personality disorders.  These types of interview subjects can create significant challenges for an investigator who is not aware of the unique tactics and methods needed to be successful.  This level 3 & 4 course builds on the interview and interrogation skill sets built in the level 1 & 2 course. Participants will expand their knowledge of the human “outliers” who exhibit complicated disorders and how to recognize the disorders and adjust their interview tactics accordingly.  Learning will be supplemented by extensive video case studies and practical exercises using inmate volunteers to help students hone their interview and interrogation techniques.

Topics:

  • Understanding and applying effective influence and persuasion tactics in the interview setting
  • Understanding and recognizing possible signs of mental illness
  • Recognizing, understanding and adjusting interview tactics for individuals with personality disorders and or emotional disorders
  • Case study exercises using video analysis
  • Video recorded practical exercises using volunteer subjects for interviews
  • Review and analysis of recorded exercise interviews
