Vehicle Interdiction

Instructor:

Matt Johnson - U.S. Navy SEAL veteran who served with SEAL Teams 7 and 10, including augments with DEVGRU. He completed multiple combat deployments to Afghanistan and Somalia, executing over 100 special operations missions and directly enabling the capture or elimination of 14 high-value targets.

Course Description:

This course trains officers in tactical vehicle stops, high-risk extractions, and vehicle-based assaults. Focus areas include planning, positioning, communication, and coordinated execution during interdiction operations involving armed suspects, mobile threats, or barricaded vehicles.

Topics Include:

Interdiction Planning & Fundamentals:

  • Threat assessment and vehicle interdiction strategy
  • Approach tactics: containment, cutoff, and blocking
  • Officer positioning, angles of exposure, and cover utilization
  • Dismount procedures and weapon handling in/around vehicles

High-Risk Extractions & Vehicle Assaults:

  • Compliant and non-compliant suspect extraction drills
  • Assault tactics for barricaded, disoriented, or armed vehicle occupants
  • Communication and control during high-stress vehicle engagements
  • Force-on-force scenarios using Simunition® FX® Marking Cartridges and Technology

Complex Vehicle Operations & Evaluation:

  • Coordinated multi-vehicle interdiction and takedown procedures
  • Rescue operations: officer/civilian extraction under fire
  • Full mission profiles under evolving threat conditions
  • Final performance evaluation and operational debrief

Required Equipment:

Primary & Secondary Weapon systems; Rifle Sling and Weapon Retention System; Duty Vest; Gun Belt; and Full Operational Loadout; Clear Eye Protection (ANSI-Rated); Long sleeve shirt; notepad and pen.

Optional: Communication Equipment (radios, headsets); Chem lights; planning aids; Supplemental team equipment (drones, robots, shields)
