Walsh College and Oakland Community College (OCC) have signed a reverse transfer agreement (RTA) enabling students to earn an associate degree from OCC while pursuing a higher-level business or information technology degree at Walsh College.
The RTA, the seventh signed by Walsh, facilitates the transfer of credits from Walsh College to OCC. It allows students to meet the requirements required for an OCC associate degree, helping them earn an additional academic credential.
Previously, students could transfer from OCC to Walsh with an appropriate number of credits but prior to fulfilling requirements for an associate degree. Walsh and OCC Sign Reverse Transfer Agreement
With the RTA, eligible students can graduate with both an associate degree from OCC and a bachelor's degree from Walsh College, once requirements are met.
Walsh College President and CEO Stephanie Bergeron and OCC Chancellor Timothy Meyer, Ph.D., inked the agreement in a signing ceremony at the OCC Administration Building on Thursday, April 7, 2016.
"Walsh has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with OCC and its graduates," said Bergeron. "This RTA formally strengthens the relationship between our respective colleges, demonstrating our shared commitment to student success and long-term academic achievement."
Added Meyer, "Our partnership with Walsh is represented through faculty respect, collective leadership, and a sharp focus on student success transitioning from one institution to another. OCC students walk into Walsh with a high-level, focused academic experience positioned for success in a higher-education environment."
Walsh College's other RTAs are with Macomb Community College, signed in 2014, and Schoolcraft College, Mott Community College, Henry Ford College, and St. Clair County Community College, all signed in 2015, and Washtenaw Community College, in 2016.
Oakland Community College's other RTAs are with Ferris State University, Grand Valley State University, Oakland University, Wayne State University, University of Michigan-Dearborn, University of Phoenix, and Western Michigan University.
