Important Information

Professional Licensure Programs

If you are considering an academic program that leads to a professional license in your state, it is highly recommended that you seek guidance from the appropriate licensing agency in your home state BEFORE beginning the academic program at Oakland Community College (OCC). It is the student's responsibility to contact the appropriate licensing board to confirm whether an OCC program or course(s) will meet the requirements for licensure in the respective state.

International Students

It is your responsibility whether an OCC program or course(s) will meet the requirements in the respective country for areas such as:

  • rules, regulations, and requirements related to online distance education programs
  • if online degrees will be recognized;
  • whether the program meets licensure or certification requirements;
  • and/or charges for any additional withholdings, taxes or fees affiliated with online distance education programs.

Student Complaint Process for Out-of-State Students

Oakland Community College is committed to resolving concerns and complaints in a timely, fair, and amicable manner. If you reside outside of Michigan while taking an OCC online class and are unable to resolve any issue by first working with your instructor, please review the College's Learning Policies & Procedures.

If you are still unable to resolve the issue at the College level you may contact the appropriate office in your state. That information is provided in the following List of State Offices. If you need additional assistance, you may contact our accrediting agency, the Higher Learning Commission.
