Online Learning Readiness Course
Description
This course is a mandatory prerequisite for students wanting to enroll in online or hybrid courses. No exemptions are allowed or equivalencies accepted.
This course is also recommended, but not required, for students whose lecture and lab courses are not online or hybrid but utilize D2L.
The Online Learning Readiness Course DIST 1000 provides a hands-on introduction to the key features of D2L, OCC's online classroom environment. You'll get a clear picture of what it takes to be successful in an online class as you review topics ranging from time management to technology skills.
Access and Complete the Course
The Online Learning Readiness Course DIST 1000 is a non-credit, no-cost course and is mandatory for students who want to enroll in online or hybrid courses. To access the Online Learning Readiness course:
- Log into MyOCC.
- Locate the Pre-Registration Steps card.
- Select Online Learning Readiness Course (DIST 1000).
- Sign in with your MyOCC username and password.
- Click on the Online Learning Readiness Course (DIST 1000) tile. The course is available 24/7 on all devices.
- Average time to complete this self-paced course is 1.5 hours. You may exit the course and return at any time to pick up where you left off.
- To pass this course, you must complete each activity, score 75% or higher on each quiz, and fill out the course survey.
- Once you have reached the end of the course, you will see the Congratulations message with next steps on how to register for online or hybrid courses. Please wait 30 minutes before registering for online or hybrid courses.
Note: Successfully completing the DIST 1000 course once will allow you to register for online and hybrid courses in the current and future semesters.
Course FAQs
If you are enrolling in a remote course, it is not mandatory that you take the Online Learning Readiness Course, although some instructors may recommend it for their students.
