Program Outcomes

Program outcomes represent broad areas of knowledge and skills developed over the duration of the program through a wide range of courses and experiences. These learning outcomes repr esent what a  student should be able to know, think, or do upon successful completion of their program at Oakland Community College.

  • Student use safe practices related to the performance of diagnostic and repair procedures, withemphasis on environmentally sound methods.
  • Students can analyze, interpret, synthesize, and evaluate information before accepting or formulating an opinion or conclusion. Students can apply the information to engage in innovative problem solving strategies.
  • Students will be proficient with all tools and diagnostic equipment required for the licensed area, and use manufacturers’ recommended procedures.
  • Student will be able to locate both specifications and lifetime service modifications.
  • Student will be able to select and utilize replacement parts and components that have the highest level of reliability and durability, at a reasonable cost.
  • Student will provide proof of competence to pass the Michigan licensing and national Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications.
  • Student will use safe practices related to performing diagnostic and repair procedures, with emphasis on environmentally sound methods.
  • Students will be able to test, diagnose, adjust or replace motor vehicle components and locate both specifications and lifetime service modifications.
  • Students will obtain competencies to pass the Michigan licensing and national Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications and maintain institutional NATEF certification.
  • Students will prove their ability to select and utilize replacement parts and components that have the highest level of reliability and durability, at a reasonable cost.
