The Oakland Community College Student Film Festival began in 2015 as a celebration of creativity and cinematic talent, showcasing some of the best work by OCC filmmakers. This festival provides a platform for emerging artists to share their unique perspectives, bold narratives, and innovative storytelling techniques with a diverse and enthusiastic audience.
The festival, held annually, features a rich selection of short films spanning various genres, including drama, comedy, documentary, and experimental works. One of the festival's highlights is the diverse range of voices represented. Students from many different backgrounds come together to contribute their distinct visions.
The festival not only provides a stage for the films but also creates a dynamic and engaging atmosphere. Attendees can participate in Q&A sessions with the filmmakers, gaining insights into the creative process, inspiration, and the challenges faced during production. The festival culminates in an awards ceremony following the screening.
The OCC Student Film Festival is more than just a film festival; it's a celebration of creativity, a showcase of talent, and a testament to the boundless potential within our OCC storytellers.
The festival will take place on May 16th at 7pm in the Smith Theater on the Orchard Ridge Campus.
