Oakland Community College, Michigan National Apprenticeship Week Proclamation

Whereas, Oakland Community College (OCC) offers a high-quality education, and is committed to enhancing the quality of life, safety and economy in the communities we serve. OCC provides high skill, in-demand robust professional and career technical programs, certificates, and short-term training opportunities for its stakeholders;

Whereas, OCC is a preferred educational provider for Registered Apprenticeships, an earn-while-you-learn training model that ensures structured education and on-the-job learning for apprentices to have a secure high paying, and highly technical career, and

Whereas, OCC recognizes that Registered Apprenticeships can grow, expand and are strengthened through quality, pre-apprenticeship programs that prepare individuals to enter and succeed in Registered Apprenticeship, and

Whereas, Registered Apprenticeship is the workforce solution for business and industry for building, recruiting and retaining a talented and diverse labor pool, and

Whereas, OCC is expanding Registered Apprenticeship through its U.S. DOL Apprenticeship: Closing the Skills Gap and America Building Apprenticeship grants, and

Whereas, registered apprentices are celebrated for their time management and persistence both on-the-job and in the classroom, and

Whereas, registered apprentices earn a national, portable industry-recognized credential upon program completion, are awarded college credits, and provided pathways for career mobility.

Now, therefore, we Oakland Community College do hear by proclaim the week of November 14-20, 2022 as National Registered Apprenticeship Week in Michigan.
