Choosing the Right Laptop
Considering getting a new laptop for college? It's a big decision, and it can be tough to figure out what you really need. We're here to help you make an informed choice so you get a laptop that will support your academic journey without breaking the bank.
We've put together these recommendations to help make the process easier while you shop.

Course Specific Hardware & Software
*Be sure to check your course syllabi for specific hardware and software recommendations your course may require.
General recommendations include:
- Computer Information Systems (CIS) Classes | 512GB or more of storage, an Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 or higher processor, and Nvidia or Radeon Graphics
- Interior Design (INT) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) Classes | If installing Autocad locally, refer to their system requirements
- Graphic Design (GRD) Classes | Some Graphic Design software, such as Final Cut Pro, may only be available for Apple MacOS operating system
For all OCC courses, you can run the software you need off of our VDI environment. This allows you to connect your laptop remotely to OCC so you don't have to install software directly to your machine.
