Scholarships

As you embark on the next step in your career journey, how much your Oakland Community College education will cost – and how to pay for it – are likely top of mind. Fortunately, we offer the most affordable tuition in the state with generous financial aid and scholarship awards. In fact, most students get some form of financial aid, which can be used to pay for classes, books, even living expenses.

A scholarship does not need to be repaid. It is given based on merit, need, or by fulfilling criteria given by the scholarship donor. At OCC, the process of finding and applying for scholarships recently got easier with Scholarship Universe, an all-in-one system that matches you to your best fit opportunities.

  • Easily apply online to multiple scholarship opportunities through a personalized portal.
  • See scholarship metrics to determine your changes and the effort required to apply.
  • Be alerted whenever you are matched to new scholarship opportunities
  • Receive automated reminders about outstanding tasks and next steps.

Each year, sponsors and donors to the OCC Foundation provide hundreds of scholarships to empower our students to succeed. OCC students can easily apply for most Foundation scholarships through OCC-SOS (OCC Student Online Scholarships), the College's web-based scholarship application system.

OCC Foundation scholarships are offered to currently enrolled OCC students without regard to race, gender, gender identity, color, ethnicity, or national origin, regardless of the scholarship’s title. For example, scholarships sponsored by women’s organizations are offered without a preference or restriction based on sex, are open to all genders, and are awarded without regard to the sex of the applicant.

NON-INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Non-Institutional Scholarships are sponsored by a variety of organizations, and a limited number of applications are sent along with the scholarship posting. Students must follow the instructions and meet application deadlines noted in the scholarship profiles.

OCC does not assist in the development of the scholarship criteria nor participate in the screening and/or selection of the scholarship recipient(s) except as prescribed by the scholarship sponsors. OCC also does not approve/disapprove/endorse the scholarship organizations and provides the scholarship information as a public service.

STUDENT SUCCESS FUND

The Student Success Fund is OCC’s rapid response to students in crisis. Through donations to the OCC Foundation, help may be available for enrolled students facing a non-tuition financial emergency.  This fund may provide assistance to eligible students for help with rent, utilities, transportation, food, technology needs, required textbooks, required course materials or other unexpected expenses as outlined below.  The goal is to prevent a student from dropping out of classes and losing momentum toward completion.
