Teresa Garcia - Alumni Profile

Teresa Garcia Teresa Garcia, of Waterford, is a nursing faculty member at OCC. Teresa has a master’s and a bachelor’s in nursing from Oakland University, a Parish Nursing Certificate from Concordia University and an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from OCC. She attended Waterford Mott High School. She is also a member of the OCC Foundation Board.

Why did you choose to attend OCC?
It was close to home, affordable and its nursing program had a strong reputation.

What is your fondest memory of OCC?
I made strong bonds with my classmates and I received an excellent base education in nursing.

What surprised you the most about OCC?
Healthcare facilities seek out OCC graduates for the program and alumni’s strong reputation.

How did attending OCC impact your life?
Attending OCC gave me a strong foundation in nursing education to build on. I was able to work and gain experience while completing my advanced degrees.

What has been your most rewarding professional, or personal, experience since graduating?
I really love working in the rewarding field of nursing! I have also been able to use my nursing skills and knowledge to be part of several medical mission teams doing work in places such as Africa and India.

What advice would you give other OCC graduates about school and life after school?
I would advise students to use OCC as the beginning of their education and continue to build on it.

What would you like for people to know about OCC that they might not necessarily know?
Education is what you make of it and OCC is an excellent place to start.
