Oakland Community College (OCC) has earned its first Emmy Award, winning in the Education/Schools
category for the College’s 60th anniversary video. OCC also received a nomination
for a promotional video showcasing its new Culinary Studies Institute.
The Emmy-winning video featured faculty, staff and college leaders imagining what education could look like
in 2085 and how OCC will continue to play a leading role in shaping the future. The
video was one of eight nominees in the category and earned Emmy recognition for Elizabeth
Schnell, OCC Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communications; Linda Ruggirello, Internal
Communications Lead; and Jim TerMarsch, Creative Director, VC2.

The award was presented by the Michigan chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences during the 48th Regional Michigan Emmy® Awards on June 13 at The Fillmore Detroit.
“It is such an exciting honor for OCC’s 60th Anniversary video to earn an Emmy Award,”
said Schnell. “Hats off to each of the staff and faculty members who participated
and brought it to life. Their vision of OCC’s future in 60 years made this award-winning
video possible.”
Faculty, staff and leaders in the video include OCC Chancellor Peter Provenzano, Jr.;
Jake Webb, Academic Multimedia Studio Services Manager; Sara Bowman, Paralegal Program
Director; Jahquan Hawkins, Dean of Students; Lindsay Mitchell, Learning Resources
Technician; Bill Isanhart, Faculty Philosophy; Mike Mauer, Materials Specialist; and
Bianca Bryant, former Associate Academic Dean, Dual Enrollment & K-12 Partnerships.
OCC also received a nomination in the Non-News Program Promotion (Single Spot) category for its Fueling Culinary Futures video. The nomination recognized Emily Stieber, OCC Director of Marketing; Rachel Byrnes, Marketing Lead; and Daniel Brian Advertising.
The Emmy Awards recognize excellence in television and video production while highlighting the talented professionals and organizations that create outstanding content.
