Oakland Community College (OCC) and Oakland University (OU) have added a new transfer pathway that allows OCC Early Childhood Education students to earn an OU bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.

Under the agreement, students who earn an Associate in Applied Science in Early Childhood Education from OCC can transfer with aligned coursework, ensuring a smooth transition to OU. The program prepares graduates for Michigan teacher certification for birth through third grade. Students must also complete the Michigan Transfer Agreement requirements and pass the Michigan Tests for Teacher Certification.

“We continue to expand our transfer partnerships with Oakland University, creating seamless pathways for students to earn a bachelor’s degree in their chosen career field,” said OCC Provost Jolene Chapman. “This Early Childhood Education agreement helps address a high demand for educators in our community.”

Students must complete at least 57 credit hours at OCC while earning an associate in applied science, and meet a minimum 2.8 GPA to enroll in upper-level Early Childhood Education coursework at OU. The bachelor’s degree requires at least 120 total credits, with additional coursework possible depending on program requirements.
