Investing in cutting-edge learning and life-changing opportunities for culinary students

The Oakland Community College Foundation has launched The Next Course: Campaign for the Culinary Studies Institute, a far-reaching $2.5 million initiative designed to empower OCC’s Culinary students in the classroom, industry and community and throughout their careers.

This marks the first multi-year fundraising campaign in OCC’s 60-year history, an ambitious step that reflects the growth of the culinary industry and evolving student needs. The campaign is designed to open doors, expand opportunities and empower the next generation of culinary talent, signaling a transformative moment for culinary education in Oakland County.

Fueling Student Success at OCC’s New Culinary Studies Institute

The campaign comes just one month after the grand opening of OCC’s cutting-edge Culinary Studies Institute (CSI) on the Royal Oak Campus. The new facility is one of the most advanced in the state and features:

  • five professional, high-tech teaching kitchens
  • two demonstration kitchens
  • three classrooms
  • the Seasoned Oak Restaurant, a full-service teaching restaurant
  • and student-run Sweet Oak Café

Together, these spaces give students unparalleled opportunities to hone their craft, showcase their talent, and step confidently into Michigan’s growing culinary industry.

Direct Support with Lasting Impact

The culinary industry continues to expand in Michigan, with high demand for talent. OCC’s CIS program is positioned to meet that demand

Every contribution to The Next Course will directly enhance the student experience and fuel their success by:

  • expanding scholarship support
  • strengthening classroom and community programming
  • elevating hands-on learning and workforce readiness, including competition travel and fees
  • enhancing the overall Culinary Studies Institute environment

OCC Foundation Ignites Momentum with $1 Million Leadership Gift
