Searching for New Career Opportunities? Oakland Community College is hosting a number of free information sessions on how to prepare for and enter some of the area’s hottest fields.
911 Dispatch Academy – Michigan’s only 911 Dispatch Academy provides the necessary skills, knowledge and hands-on training to work in a public safety communications center. Upon completion of the seven-week program, graduates receive a “911 Dispatch Academy” certificate provided by the Oakland Police Academy. Program admission requires attendance at one of the following mandatory orientations at OCC’s CREST Center in Auburn Hills, Tuesday, Feb. 2 or Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge to participate in the orientation; advance registration is required. Culinary Studies Institute – Learn about program requirements, meet some of the renowned faculty and get a tour of the facility at one of these sessions: Tuesday, Feb. 2, 5:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Feb. 10, 11:00 a.m.; Wednesday, Mar. 9, 5:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, Apr. 6, 5:30 p.m. Each session lasts for approximately 1 hour and is held at OCC’s Orchard Ridge campus in Farmington Hills. Construction Management Veteran’s Training – OCC in collaboration with the Associated General Contractors of Michigan, Home Builder’s Association of Michigan and the Naadee Development Corporation, to provide a special construction management training for all U.S. military veterans. This short-term training includes college courses that lead to a Certificate in Construction Management from OCC and includes work experience and/or full-time employment through local contractors. Those with a degree from another college or university may be able to transfer credits allowing options for associate degree(s). Nursing – Information sessions on OCC’s Nursing program will be held at OCC’s Royal Oak campus, Wednesday, Jan. 27, 6:30 p.m.; Highland Lakes campus, Thursday, Feb. 25 6:30 p.m. Additional sessions will be held at 6:30 p.m., on March 17 and May 18 at OCC’s Royal Oak campus and April 20 and June 16 at OCC’s Highland Lakes campus.
Radiology Tech – Information sessions will be held at OCC’s Southfield campus, Wednesday, Feb. 10, 5:00- 7:00 p.m. Topics will include a description of professional responsibilities, program requirements and demands, wait list information and question and answers session.
