OCC Hosts Virtual Job Fairs for Health Professions and Manufacturing Areas March 18

OCC’s Career Services is hosting two virtual Career Fairs to help connect local employers with potential job candidates in the Health Professions and the Engineering, Manufacturing and Industrial Technology (EMIT) areas as well as early workshops to help prepare attendees for greater success.

According to Donna DuHame-Schmidt, Director of Career Services and Cooperative Education at OCC, there are a lot of local employers with job openings at the event and the opportunity to talk with these representatives regarding a potential job is something candidates need to prepare for to give themselves a better chance of being hired.

Preparation Workshops Help Job Seekers Improve Chances at Landing a Position

OCC’s Career Services department is offering Career Fair Preparation Workshops designed to assist job seekers in knowing what they need to do prior to, during, and after the career fair.  These workshops will be be held virtually on:

           >Monday, March 8, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
           >Monday, March 15, 11 a.m. to noon
           >Monday, March 15, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The workshops will prepare job candidates addressing: what do I need to do before the career fair; what is an elevator speech; how will I connect and communicate with employers; and what to expect after the career fair.

“By attending our preparation workshops prior to talking with employers at our Career Fairs, our candidates will be able to put their best foot forward during an interview,” she said.
