New OCC Dean of Nursing, Dr. Rosalind Woodson

Dr. Rosalind Woodson has been named dean of nursing at Oakland Community College, one of the largest and most successful nursing programs in Michigan.

A registered nurse with nearly 25 years of combined teaching and practicing nursing experience, Woodson most recently served as nursing program director at South University and interim director at ITT Technical Institute.  As dean, Woodson will serve as a key leader of Oakland Community College's program and return to her roots where she began teaching as an adjunct faculty member.

"We are delighted to welcome Dr. Woodson back to OCC. We are proud of the fact that OCC graduates consistently outscore bachelor's degree graduates and surpass first-time pass rates on the National Nursing Board Exams, at both state and national levels," said OCC Chancellor Timothy Meyer.

"Dr. Woodson's progressive experience both inside and outside the classroom is important to the high credibility of this program. Nearly 100 percent of OCC's nurse graduates are employed as registered nurses after passing the licensing exams and we look forward to continuing that tradition of excellence under her leadership."

Woodson's professional nursing experience began at Detroit area hospitals, concentrating in emergency, trauma and medical-surgical nursing as well as community and home care nursing. She has also been an active nursing instructor at Oakland University and Harper University Hospital.

Woodson earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Oakland University, dual degrees with Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Business Administration in Health Care Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor of Nursing from Wayne State University.
