OAKLAND COUNTY, Michigan – With a cast of 19 characters, ages 20-something to 70-something, OCC's production of “Almost Maine” promises to be funny, magical, whimsical and completely charming—and a great play for all ages.
Running Nov. 12 – 28, “Almost Maine’ is comprised of nine short vignettes and features current and former students, community actors and even touts two OCC faculty members in the cast.
“This production is one of our largest” said faculty member Dennis North, fine & performing arts department. “We have a wonderful mix of talent and we continue to up our game with great performances.”
“Almost Maine” premiered in 2004 in Portland, Maine where it broke box office records and garnered critical acclaim. It was named one of the Best Plays of 2006 by New Playwrights and selected as one of the most outstanding regional theatre productions in its opening season by the American National Theatre.
OCC show dates are Nov. 12, 13, 14 and 19, 20, 21. All performances are at 8 p.m. at the Smith Theatre in OCC’s Orchard Ridge Campus, 27055 Orchard Lake Road, Farmington Hills. General admission is $15; students and seniors (age 62+) pay $5.
“If you are looking for a play to introduce family members to in a non-intimating way, this production is perfect,” said North. “It has a lack of pretense that’s become rare in today’s choices of entertainment.”
