Registration for Oakland Community College’s Winter Semester opens Oct. 28 for current students and those beginning or returning to college. Online registration is available through Jan. 11, 2026, and classes begin Monday, Jan. 12.
Prospective students can find application information on OCC’s Admissions. Students from other colleges and universities are encouraged to visit Guest Students before registering. OCC’s schedule of classes and registration details are available on OCC’s registration page.
Variety of Course Formats Available
OCC offers flexible course options each semester, including in-person, hybrid courses (a combination of in-person and online), and an expanded number of fully online courses to meet student demand and offer maximum flexibility.
Some Students Qualify for Free Tuition
Thanks to two State of Michigan of Michigan programs, many students qualify for free tuition at OCC:
- Michigan Reconnect provides free in-district tuition to qualifying Michigan residents age 25 and older who want to earn an associate degree or certificate.
- Community College Guarantee is available to students from the high school class of 2023 and beyond, offering free in-district at OCC and other Michigan community colleges. To qualify, students must complete the FAFSA and list “Oakland Community College” as their first college of choice.
More Ways to Pay for College
OCC has one of the lowest in-district tuition rates in Michigan and offers a variety of financial aid options, including one-time grants, government financial aid, and scholarships.
- FAFSA - All college students are encouraged to apply for college financial aid through the U.S. Department of Education. Students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Applying for FAFSA opens additional opportunities for grants, scholarships and more.
- Scholarship Universe – OCC’s scholarship-matching tool that connects students to internal and external scholarship opportunities. For more information on scholarships, visit Scholarships.
Admissions and Financial Aid Information Sessions
Current and incoming students who need help with Admissions or Financial Aid processes are invited to attend OCC’s events to get started.
- Paying for College Information Sessions: OCC Financial Aid representatives will answer questions about scholarships and financial aid. View upcoming sessions.
- Getting Started at OCC Events: One-hour virtual sessions cover applying at OCC, setting up MyOCC account and email, completing orientation, English and Math placement information, meeting with counseling, and scheduling classes. Register for a session.
Stay on Track: Meeting with Counselors and Academic Advisors Before Registering for Classes
Meeting regularly with OCC Counselors and Academics Advisors is the best way for students to stay on track toward their degree and transfer goals. They are here to help develop an academic plan to graduate in two years (30 credits per year) or three years (20 credits per year). Schedule an appointment online with a Counselor or Academic Adviser and get to your goal faster.
