The Oakland Community College Theatre Program has a world to offer in the way of classes and performance opportunities. Whether you’re interested in the entire program, looking to transfer to a university, taking a class or two to keep up your acting chops or just trying something you’ve always wanted to do - checking out the Theatre Program at OCC will definitely be worth your time. Come on in and explore.


  • Earn an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in THEATRE
  • Take core theatre classes and transfer to a four-year university
  • Get necessary training to enter a specialized school of acting
  • Work with current professional actors and directors to polish your skills to enter the professional entertainment industry
  • Get involved in the technical aspects of theatre by working behind the scenes in theatrical productions

Did you know?Actors: Employment of actors is projected to grow 12 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. Job growth in the motion picture industry will stem from continued strong demand for new movies and television shows.

Producers & Directors: Employment of producers and directors is projected to grow 12 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. Visit us for a discussion about the 2022-2023 Theatre season.  Anyone who is an OCC student is invited to come.  If you  cannot make the meeting but are interested, email Jennifer Little.

The Theatre program is an Associate in Arts degree with a concentration in Theatre. This program includes performance and the technical aspects of theatre, including theory and practical experience. Upon completion of this program, students will be prepared to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, enter a specialized school of acting, or enter the professional entertainment industry.




This program is offered on the Orchard Ridge campus.

Prospective students must meet standard OCC eligibility requirements – there is an open admissions policy and placement tests and new student orientation are required in most cases. Students should meet with an OCC counselor before attempting this plan of study.
