Advanced SWAT School
Course Coordinator
This course is designed for experienced SWAT operators to refine and expand their
tactical skillsets in high-risk environments. Focus areas include clearing complex
structures, multi-entry/team coordination, hostage rescue/breach planning, low-
light/no-light tactics, and full mission planning.
Instructor:
Matt Johnson - U.S. Navy SEAL veteran who served with SEAL Teams 7 and 10, including augments with DEVGRU. He completed multiple combat deployments to Afghanistan and Somalia, executing over 100 special operations missions and directly enabling the capture or elimination of 14 high-value targets.
Topics & Schedule
Day 1-3 Team Movement & CQC Execution
- Tac Fitness Modules
- Advanced team movement and stack variations for complex structures
- Multi-entry and multi-team coordination techniques
- Priority threat engagement and rapid target discrimination
- Dynamic tempo shifts during CQC operations
- Dynamic single room clearing drills (Dry and Force-on-Target)
Day 4-5 Hostage Rescue & Breach Planning
- Hostage rescue fundamentals and threat/no-threat decision-making
- Breach-point planning and target approach tactics
- Simunitions-based single room hostage scenarios
Day 6 Low-Light / No-Light Tactics
- White light and NOD integration for limited visibility operations
- Civilian management: compliant, non-compliant, and chaotic actors
- Stress-based isolation drills and hallway/multi-room iterations (Force-on-Target)
- CQC marksmanship
Day 7: Scenario-Based Tactical Problem Solving
- Barricaded subject, hostage rescue, and officer down operations
- Hybrid dynamic/stealth entry methods based on live threat evolution
- Fatigue management, performance breakdown response, and crisis re-tasking
- Advanced flow drills with multiple unknown threats and contingencies
- Isolation drills and Force-on-Force engagements
- CQC Marksmanship
Day 8 Full Mission Execution & Leadership Development
- Full mission profiles with injects and civilian role players
- Leadership under fire: team leader role rotation during scenarios
