Credit for Prior Learning

If you’ve been through OCC’s Fire Fighter Academy and earned your Michigan Level I & II certifications, you’ll be awarded 12 credits overall—9 of which count toward this degree.

A Program that Adapts to You

Whether you’re already working or new to the field, this program supports your goals. Classes are small, and a little more than half your classmates are likely to be working firefighters. Choose your electives based on your experience and your next step:

Associate Degree

We offer a 62- to 64-credit associate in applied science (AAS) degree in Fire Fighter Technology

Full-Time or Part-Time: Pick Your Pace 

Work closely with your OCC advisor to build your best program.

Plan Your Transfer

If you want a Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) endorsement, work closely with your OCC advisor to take courses from the MTA list, including appropriate math courses. If you know where you want to transfer, consult that school’s advisors as well.
