Industrial Readiness Training Program
The Industry Readiness Training program is a comprehensive course designed to provide participants with the foundational technical skills, knowledge and practical expertise essential for entry into high-demand skills trades. The curriculum features specialized instruction focused on maritime and defense industrial applications. This program provides critical hands-on experience in a trade vital to naval and industrial maintenance, ensuring graduates are well-rounded and immediately ready for technical roles supporting the defense industrial base, direct entry into a Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) or employment in the advanced manufacturing industry.
Program Information
Cohort 1: January 5 – February 13, 2026
Cohort 2: June 6- July 18, 2026
Days/Times: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Location: Auburn HIlls Campus
Program Length: 6 weeks
Cost: The program will be provided to the participant at no cost
Upon successful completion of the Pre-Apprenticeship Program students will receive:
- 8 Academic Credit Hours from OCC upon successful completion of the program
- 120 Related Technical Instruction (RTI) hours towards a Registered Apprenticeship Program
- OSHA-10 Industry Safety Card
- NC3 Ethic Employability Certificate
- NC3 Precision, Measurement and Instrumentation Certificates
- Welding Fundaments, Applied Technical Math and Blue Print Reading
- Industry-led Tours
- Career Readiness and Workplace Skills Training
- Employer Interviews
- Registered Apprenticeship and Employment Opportunities
- Certificate of Program Completion
Eligibility:
- Students entering the program must be available during the scheduled time. This includes: classroom time, lab time, industry tours and interview days which are a requirement for completion of the program.
- Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age or will turn 18 years of age prior to the completion of the program.
