Meet OCC 2021 Grads: Morgan Sprader

Morgan Sprader“The past year has made me realize the importance of spending time with family and loved ones. The stay home order during the pandemic let everyone take a break and see the importance of taking time to spend away from our busy schedules.”

- Morgan Sprader

Major: Associate Degree in Business Administration
Student Involvement/honors: Co-President Phi Theta Kappa Highland Lakes Chapter, Dean’s List four consecutive semesters, Honor Roll.

Q: What were your biggest accomplishments?

A: One of my biggest accomplishments at OCC was being a Co-President of Phi Theta Kappa during the fall semester. Having an officer position with PTK taught me about leadership, responsibility and fellowship.

Q: What are you most proud of?

A: I am most proud of being able to balance a busy schedule this semester. I started a new job which was much more demanding, but I still managed a full-time course schedule.

Q: What type of support did you receive from the administration?

A: My PTK advisors, Lisa Skowronski and Gail Adams, were very helpful in assisting me with the responsibilities of Phi Theta Kappa. They arranged virtual meetings that worked for everyone’s schedule so we could still work together through the pandemic. The support of my advisors and peers from Phi Theta Kappa helped me stay focused during virtual learning.

Q: What are the next steps for you after leaving OCC?

A: The next step for me after leaving OCC is to transfer to Walsh College to complete my bachelor’s degree. I plan on pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a major in finance.

Q: From the lessons you learned in the past year, what advice would you give to future students?

A: My best advice would be to get some entry level experience in the job that you plan on pursuing. Even job shadows can be super helpful in determining your major!
