Health Sciences Associate Degree Program
When you think “healthcare career,” you might imagine face-to-face patient time. Yet
in modern healthcare, you could find your best role behind the scenes, before or after
the patient encounter.
Build career-ready (and transfer-ready) skills in this program, while you create your
best career path.

Find Your Path in Healthcare
You have hundreds of options when it comes to a career path in health care. Many share a foundation in:
- Medical terminology
- Biology & chemistry
- Communication
- Psychology
- Ethics & philosophy
This flexible degree program lets you learn the foundations and focus on the skills that mean the most for your future.
A Foundation for Many Careers
This degree in Health Sciences can be your first milestone in a healthcare career.
It gives you a complete foundation before you go to work on the administrative or
support side of a hospital, clinic, or office.
It also gives you solid footing (and credits) for more specialized training in nursing
or other health professions. No other program combines that solid health professions
foundation with the flexibility to shape your path.
Keep Growing in Your Healthcare Role
You might work as an EMT and begin to think “ER doc?” Or you might start toward nursing
school and realize you’d rather be in medical research. Hello, transfer path.
Or, you might love a technical role in a hospital for years, then find you want to
become a supervisor—this can be the college degree you need to make that move. Degree
completion that focuses on healthcare.
Start Where You Are
New to college: Make a fresh start and earn your associate degree in this growing, in-demand industry. OCC is also a top transfer institution, so if you’re looking at a long educational on-ramp for your healthcare career (think psychologist or physician), consider building a practical foundation in your first two years of that on-ramp.
Some college: Many students start in one professional program only to discover it’s not the best
fit. Start again with the Health Sciences AAS to build on your existing credits and
find your new footing.
With practical experience: Some students pick up healthcare experience in the military or an entry-level job.
Build on that experience to earn an academic credential for your next move in this
field.
Anywhere in Oakland County (or beyond): Take classes at your closest OCC campus or online.
