Grocery Store Tour - Shop Economically While Eating Healthy

In this hands-on class, students will learn to stretch their food resources to feed their families, compare products and make healthy choices within a limited budget. This class is also for someone that wants to learn how to buy food in a more healthy fashion. We will practice label reading, weighing foods to visualize how much a pound really is. We will compare costs between whole produce, pre-sliced, frozen, and canned. We will show the student how to see if the grocery item is connected to a local company.  This class will truly be an exciting “trip to the grocery store”! Please bring pad of paper and pen, a list of any products in which you would like us to look at and wear grocery store attire.

Traditional Charcuterie

Charcuterie {pronounced “shahr-ku-tuh-ree”} is the art of preparing and assembling cured meats and other products. This truly unique charcuterie class will elevate your entertaining to a whole new level of splendidness. This is an informative interactive course that guides you through how to assemble your very own charcuterie board starting with the basics: What is a Charcuterie Board? How do I select which meats and cheeses to use? How much food do I need for my guests? How should I arrange the food? How do I incorporate salsas, mustards and preserves? These questions will be answered and so very much more. You will be working with domestic and imported cheeses and meats. Please bring a medium sized platter, all students will be bringing home their completed platter. Dress appropriately.  Hair back and covered, apron or covering, no loose clothing, non-slip, closed toe shoes, no high heels. Bring Chef (French) knife.
