Special Events

All special events that take place in the Culinary Studies Institute are a means to provide a  "real" hands-on learning experience for our students in training!

Our seasoned students in "Events & Catering" are applying their newly attained skills to plan, organize, and execute themed events. They are managers leading our student volunteers in assigned tasks such as banquet service, bartending, décor, and clean up.

Students in "Buffet & Banquets" are planning and preparing the exciting menus for banquet and buffet style service, a very different experience than our restaurants. Their challenge is to execute the beautiful and delicious plates they imagined for our guests.

"Bakery Merchandising" students are creating special bakery treats for you to take home and enjoy!

All that's missing is YOU!!!!

We need guests to WOW and we greatly appreciate those who take the time to dine with us and support our culinarians in training!

All events are held at the Orchard Ridge Campus in Farmington Hills

Tribute to the Rat Pack
Featuring the OCC Community Jazz Band

March 12, 2020 • 6pm • $55

Boots Belts and Bows Country Hoedown
April 23, 2020 • 6pm • $55

Wanted:  One rowdy gang for rabble rousing and general ruckusing. Saddle up y'all! Put on your boots and mosey on over to our uptown hoedown. Enjoy our country chic décor and celebration of southern fare appetizers and libations at our cash bar. Please don't put your boots on the table as you sit back and chaw up five delightful courses fixed up by our Camp Cookie. If ya got the sand, get a wiggle on and don't miss this boot stompin good time, buy your tickets now. Sport your best Stetson and Western wear.

Valentines Buffet
February 13, 2020 • 11:15am - 1pm • $11

Share the love of the season by inviting all sweethearts, cupids, and friends to our breathtaking gourmet buffet. Love IS all you need with the exception of our amazing array of appetizers, entrées, and tempting desserts. Wet your whistle with our beverage station followed by whatever other activities strike your fancy.

Kentucky Derby Buffet
April 9, 2020 • 11:15am - 1pm • $11

Place your bets and be a winner Fillies, Colts, and Foals for this across the board grand buffet event that's sure to be a crowd favorite. The odds are in your favor with our trifecta of bluegrass inspired appetizers, entrées, and southern dessert delights. Tame your thirst and amble up to our refreshment station including sweet tea and lemonade.

Outside of our Wednesday Bakery Counter, we have some special bakery events that feature items created by our students. All bakery events are on Thursdays, please note the dates and times below.
