Special Events

All special events that take place in the Culinary Studies Institute are a means to provide a  "real" hands-on learning experience for our students in training!

Our seasoned students in "Events & Catering" are applying their newly attained skills to plan, organize, and execute themed events. They are managers leading our student volunteers in assigned tasks such as banquet service, bartending, décor, and clean up.

Students in "Buffet & Banquets" are planning and preparing the exciting menus for banquet and buffet style service, a very different experience than our restaurants. Their challenge is to execute the beautiful and delicious plates they imagined for our guests.

"Bakery Merchandising" students are creating special bakery treats for you to take home and enjoy!

All that's missing is YOU!!!!

We need guests to WOW and we greatly appreciate those who take the time to dine with us and support our culinarians in training!

Moulin Rouge
October 24, 2019 • 6pm • $55

Because life is a cabaret old chum, you are cordially invited to the sights and sounds of the Montmartre district in Paris as performed by the OCC Community Jazz Band. This event evokes the mystery and magic of love, conspiracy, and deception. Be blown away by the sumptuous scenery and delectable social hour of iconic cocktails and hors de oeuvres. Whether peasant or bourgeois we will suit your palate through a five course sensory delight. The show must go on so please dress in your finest Parisian pret-a-porter.

A Christmas Story

Let us take you back to a 1940's story of a 9 year old boys unrelenting desire to get his hands on a Red Ryder BB gun. If you promise not to shoot your eye out we'll keep Scut Farkus from bullying you out of our social hour of hors de oeuvres and cash bar signature cocktails. The Bumpuses smelly hound dogs will be kept out of the kitchen so we may provide you with five festive courses. Don your best ugly holiday sweater or bunny costume from Aunt Clara. Boots Belts and Bows Country Hoedown

Wanted:  One rowdy gang for rabble rousing and general ruckusing. Saddle up y'all! Put on your boots and mosey on over to our uptown hoedown. Enjoy our country chic décor and celebration of southern fare appetizers and libations at our cash bar. Anchors Away Buffet

Game Day Buffet

Who's got game? Do not sit on the bench for this culinary home-run! You will have a ball at our slam-dunk grand buffet featuring an all-star culinary line up of seasonal entrees and delicious pastries to enjoy with your teammates. Drop your gloves and sport your favorite team jersey while you refresh your palate with some high quality H2O amongst other heavy hitting beverage options.

Valentines Buffet

Share the love of the season by inviting all sweethearts, cupids, and friends to our breathtaking gourmet buffet. Love IS all you need with the exception of our amazing array of appetizers, entrées, and tempting desserts. Wet your whistle with our beverage station followed by whatever other activities strike your fancy.

Kentucky Derby Buffet
April 9, 2020 • 11:15am - 1pm • $11

Place your bets and be a winner Fillies, Colts, and Foals for this across the board grand buffet event that's sure to be a crowd favorite. The odds are in your favor with our trifecta of bluegrass inspired appetizers, entrées, and southern dessert delights. Tame your thirst and amble up to our refreshment station including sweet tea and lemonade.

Outside of our Wednesday Bakery Counter, we have some special bakery events that feature items created by our students. All bakery events are on Thursdays, please note the dates and times below.
