Course Description:

The course is designed to provide advanced skillsets for officers to gain access to barricaded or denied areas of a structure. 

Day 1: Gaining Access through "method of entry" Fundamentals (Manual Tools)

  • Introduction to method of entry fundamentals (Historical & Modern Use) and Skillsets
  • Room Control & Movement Fundamentals (Solo & Partner / Dry)
  • Introduction to tool Types (Manual, mechanical, thermal, energetic and ballistic)
  • Systematic approach to defeating barricades in a high threat environment
  • Baseline Skill w/Barricades
  • Room movement & Control (Solo, Partner / Dry)
  • Tool Familiarization & Static Barricade walkthrough (Systematic Approach to defeating complex barricades)

Day 2: Mechanical Tools, Macro Movement

  • Introduction to Mechanical Tools
  • Equipment Considerations
  • Macro Movement, Hallways methodologies, and Hot wall consideration
  • Day 1 Review/Warm-up (Dry w/barricades)
  • Mechanical Tool Familiarization
  • “Breach Management” iterations (Mechanical & Manual tools)
  • Macro Movement “Flow” iterations w/barricades (“Force-on-Target” Drills)  

Day 3: Planning and Scenarios

  • Method of Entry Planning
  • Scenario Briefing & Course Review
  • Day 2 Review/Warm-up (Dry, w/barricades)
  • Macro Movement “Flow” iterations w/barricades
  • Final Training Exercises: Scenarios

NOTE: Officers will test crisis response readiness against live role players conducting “force-on-force” scenarios. The final exercise will test the officer’s ability to gain access to barricaded spaces in a non-permissive Crisis Response scenario 

Required Equipment:

Primary/Secondary Weapon system, Weapon sling (rifle) & Retention; Duty Vest; Belt; Operational loadout, Communications (Optional); Clear (approved for range) eye protection; Long sleeves, Gloves (Optional); Manual Breaching Equipment (Optional); Additional Supplemental Equipment for Team (Robots, Drones); “Chem lights” Blue / Red (Optional); Notepad, pen and Planning Aids for Day 3 (Optional)
