Program Title: Business Administration - Concentration in Accounting
Program Description: The Associate Degree in Business Administration Degree with a concentration in accounting offers a cognitive foundation in areas fundamental to business studies such as accounting, economics and mathematics. Students elect the Associate in Business Administration Degree for various reasons that may include further study toward a bachelor degree or as preparation for CPA certification or MBA programs. Graduating from this program qualifies the student for the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) endorsement. Students should work closely with an OCC counselor to identify courses from the MTA list which apply to the endorsement and to select courses that will satisfy the intake requirements of the intended transfer institution. All courses that satisfy MTA requirements must be completed with a grade of "C" (2.0) or higher. All courses comprising the 60 - 63 credits required for the degree must be completed with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Program Description: This option is intended for individuals who desire entry-level employment in the field of general accounting. Successful completion of this option will result in a Certificate in General Accounting. Eligibility for this certificate is dependent upon the student achieving a ‘C’ or better in each of the required courses. The student may choose to continue and complete an Associate in Business Administration or an Associate in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.

Program Title: Construction Management
Program Description: The Construction Management program is designed to prepare men and women to work at entry- and middle-level management for general contractors, construction managers and design-build contractors in all industry sectors. The program focuses on management practices found throughout construction that include (but are not limited to) industry terminology, building materials and systems, construction surveying, construction safety, interpretation of construction drawings, management techniques, administration, and project estimating. Through cooperation with and guidance from the construction industry, the program remains current with industry technology, standards and guidelines. Graduates of this program will have gained knowledge in both the technical and business management areas of the construction industry. This degree will position graduates to obtain potential employment in construction or continue their education through several articulation agreements with other colleges and universities.
Program Title: Construction Management Professional
Program Description: The Associate in Applied Science Degree in Construction Management Professional Program is designed for skilled trade workers that desire to advance their careers or obtain further construction management skills. This degree is optimal for those expecting to take their career to the supervisory level. Through this program, students will be exposed to basic business principles, as well as basic construction business principles. Skilled workers who have achieved Journeyman status through the guidelines set by the Office of Apprenticeship Training (OAT) or have achieved a recognized state certified license in their specific skilled trade within any of the following categories, but not limited to Bricklayers, Carpenters, Glaziers, Iron Workers, Operating Engineers, Plumbers/Pipe Fitters/HVACR Technicians/Gas Distribution, Sprinkler Fitters, Sheet Metal, Electricians, Asbestos Workers, Elevator Constructors, and Roofers will be granted, by Oakland Community College, a block of 20 credit hours (applicable to an Associate in Applied Science-Construction Management Professional option only). Students who have successfully completed an apprentice training program, reached Journeyman status and/or have a state certified license in the categories previously listed must provide proof to the OCC Registrar Office for approval. Those with a Michigan Builder’s License and/or equivalent, without completing a skilled trade apprenticeship program and reaching journeyman status, are not qualified for the block of 20 credits. In addition to the 20 credit hours, students must take the required courses listed below, as well as meet the OCC requirements for an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Construction Management Professional. Students must also attend a mandatory Construction Management orientation session prior to enrolling in CMN 1700.
Program Title: Digital Media Communications
Program Description: Given the changing dynamics of communication in this digital age, this certificate program will introduce students to the new theories surrounding digital persuasion. It offers students instruction in communication, advertising, and the creation of digital images. The program offers professional and technical experiences in persuasion, graphic design, digital imaging, and business concepts to prepare students for careers in digital communication. Organizations across all realms depend on online visibility and targeted client interactions. New positions requiring focused skills in digital communication are being created within private and public sector organizations. This certificate will offer students experience in these critical aptitudes and is intended for individuals who desire entry-level employment in the field of digital communication and persuasion.
Program Title: Health Care Administration
Program Description: This program leading to an associate in applied science degree is designed to prepare students for a career in health care administration. This flexible program will enable students with health care experience to supplement previous experience and develop new skills necessary for upward mobility. Graduates of this program will be prepared as nursing home administrators, nursing home administrative personnel, department heads in hospitals and administrative personnel for public and private health facilities, including ambulatory clinics and assisted living facilities. Courses in this program are also available to those individuals who are required to have continuing education credits in order to maintain their nursing home licensure. Courses prefixed HCA 1000 through 2300 are approved for continuing education credits. Students must complete HCA 1000 with a “C” or better or receive permission from the Program Coordinator to enroll in HCA 1110 through 2300. The externship is individually arranged upon completion of the first 9 courses listed under “Major Requirements.” The number of hours required for this clinical experience is dependent upon previous supervisory experience in a health care facility and may range from 180 to 360 clock hours. The program coordinator makes arrangements with the students and the specific health care facility for this externship. A mandatory criminal history check with fingerprinting and drug screening will be conducted in the semester immediately preceding the start of the externship courses, at the student's expense. Conviction of a felony or conviction of any attempt to commit a felony within the 15 years immediately preceding the date of the criminal history check; or Conviction of a misdemeanor within the 10 years immediately preceding the criminal history check, and/or a positive drug screen will preclude eligibility for enrollment in the externship course(s). In addition to the regular tuition, Health Care Administration students incur extra costs including, but not limited to; liability insurance, health examination, uniforms, required vaccinations, travel and certification fees. Program Title: Heavy Equipment Repair
Program Description: A heavy equipment repair technician is responsible for the efficient, timely, and proper repair on a variety of heavy-duty construction and road equipment. The technician must be knowledgeable in repair of all systems used in heavy equipment including diesel engines, fuel systems, powertrain, electronics, and hydraulics. The technician must be able to diagnose problems, plan repairs including required labor and parts, and then complete the repair. Repairs must be completed, with consideration to safety, MIOSHA, and environmental guidelines. A repair technician must be able to work with a minimum of supervision, as repairs may be made off-site. Attention to detail and a sense of responsibility are required. Students completing the major requirements are eligible to apply for a certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair.

Program Title: Mgt Development - Hospitality
Program Description: This program, leading to an Associate in Applied Science Degree, is designed to develop skills and knowledge essential for employment in the Hospitality Industry to include food and beverage operations, guest services, sales and event planning. The program provides courses in sanitation certification, wine and spirits, front office operations, event planning, financial analysis and leadership management. The student will acquire practical experience in their coursework by performing hands on skills at multiple levels in our on campus restaurants, and special events. Students will experience special event planning first hand as student manager planning special events for the public. Student will visit hospitality venues and complete an internship within a hospitality operation best related to their career path of choice. The Hospitality graduates career can lead to management positions in their hospitality field of choice with acquired industry experience and attaining higher education and/or certification that may be required.

Program Description: This program provides professional and technical experience in still black and white, color and digital photography. Emphasis is on developing skills necessary for graduates to be employed as photographers, photographic assistants and lab technicians in business, industry, advertising, journalism, medical institutions, studios and schools. Graduates may also be self-employed as professional photographers and retailers.
