OAKLAND COUNTY, Michigan – Was one of your resolutions to take better care of your personal finances in 2018? Check this resolution off your list by tuning up your personal financial wellness at Oakland Community College this winter.
OCC and series partner Cygnet Institute are offering a number of community courses ranging from individual financial planning and portfolio management to pre-retirement and estate planning. Learn the fundamentals and relevance of economics to develop various plan aspects and goals for yourself and your family. PLEASE NOTE: These are NOT sales seminars. Instructors are prohibited from accepting participants as clients. Participants will gain insight and confidence from financial experts to help make better financial decisions. Learn more.

Financial Plan Check Up: Are you Financially on Track?
Participants will learn how to build individualized processes and strategies for making
financial decisions and funding future goals while avoiding media hype.

- Saturdays, Jan. 20-27, from 8:30-11am OR
- Tuesdays, March 6-13, from 6-8:30pm OR
- Saturdays, April 7-14, from 8:30-11am
Family Estate Planning: Experience Peace of Mind by Reducing Conflicts and Costs
At the conclusion of the three weekly courses, participants will have a printed copy
of an estate plan that can be taken to a knowledgeable attorney for drafting and execution.

Successful Portfolio Management: An Institutional Approach to Investment Decisions
Participants will design a generic portfolio plan for achieving investment targets
of growth and cash flow. At the conclusion of three evening courses, you will have
your own printed Asset Allocation Strategy enabling you to develop an Investment Policy
Statement.

Pre-retirement Cash Flow Planning: Financial Planning – The First 30 Years
Participants will get a clear picture of your current financial situation and learn
a system for developing a course of action that blends future quality of life with
job/career goals.

- Tuesdays, April 3-17, from 6-9:30pm
Post-retirement Cash Flow Planning: Dealing with Benefit Changes While on Fixed Income
Participants will test assumptions about your retirement lifestyle to determine if
your plan is on track to produce satisfactory results. This is especially critical
when faced with reductions in benefits.

Retirement Decision Process: Should You Go Now or Wait?
This course will help participants decide whether or not to retire in the near future
by properly analyzing benefits and evaluating the financial and psychological aspects
of retirement.
