Qualifying new students sought for the Chancellor's scholarship

OCC Chancellor Peter ProvenzanoOAKLAND COUNTY, Michigan — If you think a college degree is priceless, you’re right. And if you think the tuition, fees and related costs are barriers to your dream, think again.

Graduating high school, adult and alternative education students considering Oakland Community College for the 2019-20 academic year are encouraged to applyfor a Chancellor’s Scholarship, which helps incoming, qualified students get an incredible financial head start on their higher education.

Chancellor's Scholarships are awarded annually to one student from each public or private Oakland County high school and one student from each qualified adult-education or alternative-education center.

The $3,500 award ($1,750 for the fall semester and $1,750 for the winter semester) covers full tuition and fees for the first academic year after graduation from high school or from a qualified adult-education or alternative-education center.

“It is an honor to offer this scholarship to our county residents because it helps to reduce the financial barrier that often limits students from achieving their dream of a college education,” said OCC Chancellor Peter Provenzano. “I received a scholarship toward college and recognize the difference that it made in my life.”

The application deadline is March 31, 2019. Recipients must attend OCC at least full time (12 credit hours minimum) for both fall and winter semesters. If the student does not attend classes, the scholarship is forfeited.

Eligibility criteria and applications are available online, or contact any of the four offices of Financial Assistance and Scholarships.
