Logistics Technician Program

It’s an era of complicated logistics, with supply chain issues and other challenges affecting many businesses. Yet, supply chains and fulfillment companies are still delivering goods across the world in record volumes. From the automotive industry to e-commerce, logistics technicians are more critical than ever. Job opportunities in this field are booming, with a projected 4% annual growth across the country through 2029, including Metro Detroit. 

  • Average entry-level wage range: $17 – $21 per hour

  • Program Length:  8 weeks

What to Expect

  • Focus: Oakland Community College, in partnership with Oakland County Michigan Works! and PepsiCo Foundation, is offering a 136-hour training that prepares individuals for front-line material handling and supply chain logistics jobs in fulfillment centers and distribution centers
  • Certifications: Foundational Certified Logistics Associate (CLA), Mid-Level Technical Certified Logistics Technician (CLT), OSHA 10 and Mike Rowe Work Ethic
  • Enhanced training: In addition to certifications, this program features several e-learning, hands-on skill training and digital literacy components. These include project-based learning, mentorship with an industry partner, workplace communication and teamwork. 
  • Employer Partners: Pepsi, Gardner White and Rite Aid 

Application Requirements

  • U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen
  • 18 years old
  • Not currently registered in school within a local educational agency
  • Registered with the Selective Services (if applicable)
  • Unemployed or underemployed
  • Commitment training for 8 weeks
  • Other eligibility factors may apply
  • Attend an information session
  • Complete the application process - apply for Michigan Works! funding or pay out of pocket
