On the first Saturday of May, the Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market celebrated its 32nd grand opening -- a beloved community tradition that marks the start of summer. The ceremony featured remarks from OCC Chancellor Peter Provenzano, Jr., who highlighted the College’s steadfast commitment to the community and sponsorship of this vibrant hometown event.
“Oakland Community College is proud to once again partner with the Farmington Farmer’s Market. We consider this one of our stronger partnerships,“ said Provenzano. “We will be the featured sponsor on four Saturdays this season where you will get an opportunity to talk with our team and learn more about all the great programs at OCC.”
The featured OCC Days for this season include opportunities to meet with faculty, staff and colleagues in the following areas:
- June 14 – Dual Enrollment
- Aug 2 – Engineering, Manufacturing and Industrial Technology (EMIT)
- Oct 11 – Admissions and Continuing Education
- Oct 25 – A pumpkin carving demonstration featuring Chef Doug Ganhs, OCC Culinary Studies Institute
In addition to Provenzano's remarks, guest speakers included Farmington Mayor Joe LaRussa; Jessica Westendorf, new executive Director of Farmington's Downtown Development Authority; and Lynn Halton, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Farmington and Farmington Hills Foundation for Youth and Families.
The Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday, May through the first Saturday in November at the Sundquist Pavilion, 33113 Grand River Avenue, Farmington. For more information about the 2025 schedule of events, visit Farmington Farmers Market.
