Tanya McFadden Named OCC Executive Director of Health Professions and Dean of Nursing

Dr. Tanya McFadden is eager to return to the institution where she began her academic career and her first job in academic leadership. Beginning Monday, Jan. 23, the OCC alum will serve in the newly created position of Executive Director of Health Professions and Dean of Nursing.

McFadden comes to OCC after working at Kalamazoo Valley Community College as Dean of Instruction, Nursing, Health Careers and Sustainable Foods. She previously served in leadership posts at Chamberlain University, Mott Community College, Lansing Community College and OCC, where she was Director of Enrollment and Student Services from Director of Clinical Education in OCC’s Respiratory Therapy program.  

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. McFadden back to OCC,” said Provost Jennifer Berne. “She brings a wealth of experience to the College’s Nursing and Health Sciences programs including direct classroom experience having served as an adjunct faculty in OCC’s Respiratory program.” 

McFadden earned her associate of applied science degree in Respiratory Therapy at OCC in 2004. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management from Siena Heights University, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Higher Education from Eastern Michigan University and a Doctorate in Education from Ferris State University. Her dissertation examined the role “First Year Seminars” play in student success.
